Helping MCA members stand out from the crowd

MCA Code of Practice

What is the MCA Code of Practice?
The Code of Practice is core to the MCA’s professionalism agenda. It represents the high quality service delivery a client can expect from an MCA member and explains what it means to be a member of the MCA.

The Code of Practice is based on the MCA Bylaws. Whilst the principles behind the Code are not new, it was developed by members as part of the MCA strategy review last year and we have been delighted by the level of support it has received. Member firms have signed up and committed to complying with it, and there has been excellent feedback from public and private sector buyers.

The Code of Practice – in practice
Member workshops held in April 2009 concluded that a 'one size fits all' approach to compliance won't work. Instead, each member firm is being asked to provide an individual statement of how they comply with the Code. This will be lodged with the MCA as part of the Annual Declaration process that takes place each Autumn and checked in the event of an audit. New members will create this as part of their application process.

  • Briefing pack - explains the process in more detail and may come in handy in your internal communications.
  • Example statements of compliance - see two real-life examples available as downloads to your right.
  • Useful resources - we have also pulled together examples of accreditation organisations and suppliers of relevant services to businesses that may help you build your compliance case.
