In order to join the MCA, firms must have been in practice in the UK for at least three years and employ at least ten consultants on a full time basis. They must also practice management consultancy as a strategic activity, offering at least two main consultancy services such as strategy, marketing, IT, HR; and they must offer fact-based advice and customised solutions.

What are the benefits of membership?

As well as setting and maintaining standards in the consulting industry, MCA supports its member firms with a range of services including events, publications, interest groups and public relations. The Association also works with its members to attract top talent into the industry. MCA provides advice on the selection and use of management consultants and is the main source of data on the UK consulting market. Click here to find out more.

What are the membership criteria?

MCA membership is open to consultancy firms that have been operating in the UK for at least 3 years and which employ at least 10 consultants full time in the UK. Management consultancy should be a strategic activity of the firm, which should offer at least 2 of the main consultancy services eg strategy, IT, HR, programme management. How much does it cost?

Annual subscriptions are based on the number of consultants employed in the UK. Subscriptions currently range from £8,140 plus VAT per annum to £37,000 plus VAT.

Can individual consultants join MCA?

MCA membership is for consultancy firms not consultants. The head of the consultancy firm is usually our main contact but other consultants within the firm can also participate in MCA activities. The Institute of Business Consulting (IBC) has individual members http://www.ibconsulting.org.uk/.

What is the difference between IMC and MCA?

The Institute of Management Consultancy (IMC) is the professional institute, which qualifies individual consultants in the UK.
