The MCA has launched a new report on local government's use of consultancy, entitled Local and efficient: Meeting the challenge for local government.
The government has launched a programme of change and reform in the delivery of public services, much of it directly affectinglocal authorities. Major reforms to health, education and policing will reshape local services.
Management consultants have worked alongside local councils, helping them to respond to the challenges and opportunities they have faced in recent years. Consultancies are therefore well placed to see how councils are planning to make the unprecedented cuts now required.
Local and efficient explores the views and experiences of a large number of experts from within MCA member companies, and highlights a series of case studies of consultancy projects that have delivered significant savings, improvements in service, or both.
