Apprentice of the Year

MCA Awards 2026 Finalist

I began my consulting journey straight out of sixth form, with little understanding of the business world and no clear idea of how my skills would translate into real‑world impact. What I did know was that I loved mathematics, and that passion naturally drew me towards data science. I began my career working in the advisory and analytics team, specialising in data visualisation, where I quickly discovered a strength for turning complex information into clear, accessible insights, showcased by being the go-to dashboard developer for projects in the highways sector. As I progressed, I realised why consultancy suited me: I could adapt rapidly to new environments and take on responsibility early, which allowed me to use my technical expertise to deliver tangible outcomes, no matter the client I worked with. Meanwhile, I consistently collaborated with highly skilled colleagues, never feeling like an outsider despite being at an early stage in my career. Nearing the end of my apprenticeship, I became heavily involved on projects in the rail sector, eventually becoming a go‑to consultant for projects requiring specialised understanding of the rail domain, with a key example being my work to streamline the development of a rail analytics tool amongst a large project team. Recognising the value of my own apprenticeship experience, I shared my knowledge across the business and mentored the new cohort of data science apprentices, sharing my learnings and advice to help them become more successful consultants in the future.
