Kirat Singh, EY

Apprentice of the year

MCA Awards 2026 Finalist

Kirat joined EY in 2023, stepping into the consulting world at 18 years old after completing the EY Foundation Programme. Since joining the Cyber Team, he has consistently demonstrated maturity, leadership and impact beyond his experience level. Having entered EY through a social mobility initiative, he continues to give back by supporting and leading multiple EY Foundation programmes, using his lived experience to inspire the next generation. In a full-circle moment, Kirat now leads the EY Foundation Cyber Central Team, designing and delivering sessions that help young people build confidence and explore careers in cybersecurity.

A stand-out achievement Kirat has been recognised for is, founding the Early Careers Network in 2026, connecting apprentices, graduates, interns and placement students across the UK & Ireland. He created the network to offer a community where the youngest people in the firm can come together, learn from each other and feel supported throughout their early careers from the moment they join.

In client delivery, Kirat has gained experience across the public sector, private equity and energy. His passion for cybersecurity was ignited during his first major engagement, supporting a multi‑million‑pound programme focused on cyber capacity‑building for power, health, aviation stakeholders and schools across India. Through exercises, workshops, and educational sessions, he helped equip organisations and students with essential cyber awareness. This showed him that cybersecurity is not just technical work, but societal impact.

Outside of work, Kirat shares his apprenticeship journey on social media, offering honest insights to support aspiring apprentices across the UK.
