Young Consultant of the Year

Rob Wilson began his consultancy career four and a half years ago with the aim of creating a fairer, more sustainable world for all. Rob began by working with Bristol City Council to improve its special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) provision. This early role strengthened his ability to understand complex challenges, simplify them, and communicate clear outcome-oriented solutions.
This foundation enabled him to progress into multiple roles with Heathrow Airport. Rob leads Mott MacDonald’s Programme Capability Partner assignment within the airport’s £5 billion capital asset renewals programme. In this role, he is a trusted advisor to the Programme Lead, more recently becoming accountable for the entire assignment. He grew the team from four to more than 10 consultants, expanding the project into a significant commission across six advisory workstreams, contributing to the programme winning the Association of Project Management’s Programme of the Year in 2025. More recently, under Rob’s formal commercial accountability, Mott MacDonald won a commission to define Heathrow’s IT Asset Management approach, where Rob and the team are advising on how to mobilise their IT capital programme, ahead of the next regulatory period.
Rob continues to focus on his professional development. He is a Charted Management Consultant, holds Full Membership of the Association for Project Management, and is both a Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) and Agile Project Management Practitioner. Rob takes a meaningful approach to wellbeing and in 2024 won the Health and Safety award for his department, nominated by his team.
