Inclusion

Before joining Capgemini in 2018, Susan Maginn was poised to do a PhD in English Literature with the aim of becoming an academic. Her passion, even now, is reading novels written between 1850 and 1950: she loves modernism, the literary trend that saw writers express themselves in experimental ways. She brings this passion for originality and experimentation to her role at Capgemini Invent, where, as a director, she leads the firm’s marketing strategy and transformation programmes for global clients, as well as leading
go-to-market (GTM) strategies and offers in the advisory space.
In addition to this, Susan heads the Women@Capgemini Invent network. She launched this after discovering she was the sole female candidate during her application process. What started as a grassroots initiative at Susan’s behest is now a company-wide employee network with 1,000 active members.
Susan has a Chinese mother and English father. She moved to the UK to study at university, but has also lived in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Iceland. She credits her background for inspiring her passion to promote inclusion.
Women@Capgemini Invent operates across eight strategic work streams, partnering with HR on learning and development opportunities and highlighting employee benefits. This strengthens the firm’s credibility, capability and relevance with clients. Susan’s work building up the UK network has become the blueprint for similar rollouts in Germany, France, the US, India and Australia. The network has helped increase female recruitment across all grades since 2018. The Invent workforce now comprises 44.8% women, outperforming its 39.5% target.
