Tanushree Agarwal, Inner Circle Consulting

Young Consultant of the Year

MCA Awards 2026 Finalist

Tanushree’s career has been shaped by navigating contexts where challenges are systemic, resources are finite, and the path forward is never obvious. From an early career as an architect in Mumbai to public sector management consulting in London, she has been driven by curiosity about the deeper causes shaping environments and the systems of decision-making that determine how people experience them.

She joined Inner Circle Consulting in 2023 and has worked with public authorities across the UK on challenges ranging from health inequalities to economic fragmentation. At Wandsworth Council, she led work on the regeneration of one of England’s largest housing estates, transforming how the council worked, to unlock new homes and secure a landmark resident ballot. She has supported a new combined authority in the East Midlands, building their Inclusive Growth Framework and strategic foundations from ground up. She is currently working with the GLA and London Councils on innovative models for city-wide partnership working.

Her leadership style has evolved in such environments and is rooted in distilling complexity without oversimplifying it, building capability that remains when she steps away, and creating conditions for collaboration. She thinks of this as leading from the middle, from within the work and alongside teams. At a moment when devolution and local government reorganisation are reshaping how places in the UK make joined-up decisions, this kind of collaborative leadership matters more than ever.

She is also passionate about coaching younger consultants and serves as a visiting tutor at The Bartlett School of Planning.
