CHARTERED MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT (CHMC) ACCREDITATION CELEBRATES RECORD GROWTH AND MILESTONES IN 2025

The Chartered Management Consultant (ChMC) accreditation, delivered by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the Management Consultancies Association (MCA), has marked another year of robust progress and growth. Targets for accreditation were beaten by 10% in 2025 and momentum is building with the final quarter delivering the highest monthly assessment volumes to date. The ChMC community now stands at nearly 4,600 consultants, with 2,262 professionals holding the full ChMC designation. This expansion reflects the increasing recognition of ChMC as the benchmark for management consultancy standards in the UK. ChMC has continued to see growth in the numbers of Chartered consultants with more expected with the Senior Leader route. Launched last year, the new route provides an effective way for senior leaders to gain ChMC whilst maintaining standards and integrity.

Over 40 MCA member firms have already committed to offering the ChMC accreditation to their teams. This marks a significant expansion and demonstrates the growing recognition of the ChMC as the standard for management consultancy excellence.

Tamzen Isacsson, Chief Executive of the Management Consultancies Association (MCA), said:

“The momentum behind ChMC is terrific in the market and it is encouraging to see the value Chartered brings to clients, individuals and firms. For clients, ChMC accreditation is a mark of assurance demonstrating that consultants meet the highest standards of competence and ethical practice. For individuals, it’s a powerful endorsement of their expertise and commitment to professional development. As we look ahead, the growing ChMC community is setting a new benchmark for quality and professionalism across the UK consulting sector.”

Ann Francke, Chief Executive of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), added:

“This record growth shows just how quickly the profession is embracing the Chartered Management Consultant accreditation as the gold standard for consultancy. At a time of complexity and change, clients want assurance that their advisers meet the highest standards of competence, professionalism and ethics. ChMC accreditation provides that confidence. The strong take-up of the new Senior Leader route underlines the growing appetite for Chartered status at every stage of a consulting career, and we at CMI are proud to be supporting this momentum.”

The Chartered Management Consultant accreditation is the only professional standard for management consultants in the UK, recognising the highest levels of competence, professionalism, and ethical practice. ChMC serves as a quality assurance mark for consultancy services, signaling a consultant’s proficiency and expertise in the field.  It stands apart as the sole internationally recognised professional management consulting accreditation, designed explicitly to validate the competence and professionalism of management consultants.

As the number of Chartered Management Consultants continues to grow, the UK consultancy sector is gradually working towards defining a new industry standard of excellence.
