EY with BP

Change and Transformation in the Private Sector

MCA Awards Finalist 2026

The DOS programme is a global transformation by bp and EY that unifies 15 procurement systems and has delivered more than US$30m in realised benefits with a projected US$140m annual run-rate.

bp has partnered with EY to deliver one of its most ambitious procurement transformations to date through the Digital Operating System (DOS) programme, a global initiative reshaping how bp manages its US$30bn annual spend.

Launched in 2024, DOS tackles longstanding inefficiencies from fragmented systems, inconsistent processes and widespread workarounds. Procurement tasks varied by region, digital tools were underused and low adoption of platforms, such as SAP Ariba, had eroded trust. DOS set out to reverse this by redesigning 15 existing procurement applications into a single, integrated SourcetoPay ecosystem.

Working in a fully embedded model, EY and bp operated as one team across eight countries, involving more than 130 EY and 150 bp colleagues since the beginning. The programme introduced standardised processes, a unified S2P template and a scalable deployment methodology. It also placed people at the centre of change, using EY’s Humans@Centre approach, behavioural indicators and structured businessreadiness to ensure adoption stuck.

The results are significant. DOS now supports 8,000+ users and 3,000 suppliers, delivering more than US$30m in annualised benefits and on track for a US$140m run rate. Order cycle times reduced from eight to two days, automation tripled, nonPO spend fallen from 60% to under 10%, and supplier onboarding times dropped from 26 days to under eight. Spend compliance has risen from 16% to over 60%.

Most importantly, DOS rebuilds trust. What was once viewed as slow and difficult is now faster, simpler and intuitive, changing how procurement is perceived across bp and strengthening the company’s operational performance.
