MCA members are invited to an online briefing hosted by the Sustainability Working Group and open to all members with Professor Kirstine Dale, Chief AI Officer at the Met Office, on how the Met Office is approaching the transformation of forecasting, driving climate adaptation, and strengthening national resilience through the use of AI. The Met Office is at the forefront of analysing and leading the UK’s climate adaptation and resilience, and its use of advanced technology and now AI at scale is an important new phase in weather and climate science.
The briefing will aim to:
- Explain how forecasting is being enhanced to better anticipate and respond to climate and environmental risks such as flooding, drought and extreme weather.
- Explore how AI‑enabled forecasting supports sustainability outcomes, from managing environmental risks to informing long‑term resource and adaptation planning.
- Discuss the wider role of the consultancy sector in supporting clients with managing climate risk, improving resilience, and adapting to a rapidly changing and extreme meteorological reality.
The event will be interactive and aimed at an informed audience working across Sustainability, AI, data and digital transformation.
This event is hosted by the Sustainability Working Group but is open to all MCA members. Please use your work email address when registering.
