As part of the MCA’s Year of Diversity, the Consulting Excellence Academy, which brings together HR professionals and business leaders from across the MCA, debated the challenges of recruiting, fostering and managing diverse teams. The driver for this event was both the general imperative of encouraging diversity, for both principled and business-interested reasons, and to start to address a specific issue. BAME recruitment, particularly of consultants of Black African and Black Caribbean origins, is an area where our member firms have more work to do.
The Academy held workshops on recruitment, culture and team-building and management. In the Members Area (an MCA member benefit), a toolkit covering the various issues discussed can be found. While by no means exhaustive, it is an impressive array of practical actions member firms can take to address common diversity challenges.
