Delivery Manager
Tecknuovo
When I first started in consulting, I expected clear problems, clear solutions, and a straightforward process to deliver successful outcomes. I studied Chemistry at university, before honing in on an interest in technology, and I think my expectations stemmed from my science background, where there is often one correct answer. In reality, I begin a project with an expected solution in mind, and through collaboration and discovery, the real solution looks completely different. This unpredictability is what keeps the work energising and what I love most about the profession.
As a Delivery Manager at Tecknuovo, I work on technology focused transformation projects that often have wider reaching public purpose. Whilst I have not yet started working toward Associate or Chartered Management Consultant status, it is something I am considering as the next step. Much of my focus so far has been on delivering digital transformation on the ground; now I am looking toward developing the broader skills needed to influence change at a larger scale.
I have been involved in early-stage AI discoveries and proof-of-concepts, which has been interesting, and has highlighted the importance of identifying strong user cases. Often, AI is not the right solution, and understanding that is just as important as understanding where it can be the right solution. It has also been thought-provoking to consider the ethical responsibility that comes with letting technology make decisions that affect people’s lives.
In terms of sustainability, digital transformation continues to make a huge difference. You would be surprised how many processes across organisations still run on paper. Supporting teams to shift to digital workflows reduces waste, speeds up operations, and sets the foundation for more sustainable ways of working. Public purpose is something I care deeply about, especially working in government projects. At Tecknuovo, our Zero Dependency model aims to empower clients rather than make them reliant on us, which aligns strongly with my own values about meaningful, responsible consulting.
For anyone considering a career in consulting, my biggest advice is to stay open-minded. Consulting is far more diverse than you would expect, and the industry continues to evolve and grow. I would absolutely recommend consulting but be prepared to completely rewrite your expectations of what you believe a consultant actually does.
