Inclusion Award
Harriet’s commitment to fostering inclusive work environments arises from a very personal journey with identity and belonging, and it is this which makes her approach so impactful.
As well as stepping forward as an LGBTQIA+ role model at Grant Thornton, using her own lived experience to educate and advocate for her community, she was key in the development of a measurable approach to capturing and analysing the impacts of intersectionality on inclusion. The rich insights this uncovered for her team and clients enabled targeted and data-driven interventions to address barriers to inclusion. She has been unafraid to hold leadership to account on difficult topics, whilst creating space for learning and bringing them on the journey with her.
With clients, Harriet’s innovative and collaborative working style is underpinned by a deep subject matter expertise, strong critical thinking skills and a curiosity for alternative perspectives. Having found her home in working with public services organisations, she embodies the values-driven approach that resonates so strongly with this sector, and which has been key to her success as a consultant. Her work with Sheffield City Council on their Sheffield Role Review Programme, a complex and high-profile project on job evaluation and equal pay, has been testament to this. She continuously demonstrates that inclusivity does not come at the cost of quality, setting a standard for the teams she works with at all levels.
