Young Consultant of the Year
Berenike was instrumental to the crafting of the first Energy Sector Cybersecurity Strategy for a key Middle Eastern ally to the UK – a paramount mission to secure critical national infrastructure against escalating cyber threats. She was faced with siloed institutions and rigid hierarchies –yet managed to build trust, break down barriers and turn passive participants into active decision-makers.
However, Berenike’s path to consulting was anything but conventional. Raised in a home filled with music rehearsals instead of computers, she moved from diplomacy to cybersecurity, drawn to its fast-paced, high-impact nature. A cyber crisis simulation with the German Defence Forces ignited her passion, leading to policy-shaping roles at EUROPOL and NATO.
Berenike’s ability to translate complex technical challenges into boardroom-ready solutions sets her apart. Berenike didn’t just deliver a strategy; she identified a critical gap in stakeholder engagement, before leading the design of the first-of-its-kind workshop to dissolve silos and uncover security gaps in the energy infrastructure. Her deliberate trust-building approach and focus on amplifying underrepresented voices, turned sceptical stakeholders into champions of the strategy that will ensure sustainability of the outcomes achieved.
The result was a bold, actionable four-year roadmap that is setting millions of citizens on the path for a more stable, secure economic future.
The UK Government hails her work as “of the highest standard […] first-class service, real potential for transformation”, while local energy sector stakeholders commented: “This was the first time I’ve felt my perspective really mattered.”
