Berenike Vollmer, BAE Systems Digital Intelligence

Young Consultant of the Year

MCA Awards 2025 FinalistBerenike was instrumental to the crafting of the first Energy Sector Cybersecurity Strategy for a key Middle Eastern ally to the UK – a paramount mission to secure critical national infrastructure against escalating cyber threats. She built trust, broke down barriers and brought diverse perspectives together around a common vision.

However, Berenike’s path to consulting was anything but conventional. Raised in a home filled with music rehearsals instead of computers, she moved from diplomacy to cybersecurity, drawn to its fast-paced, high-impact nature. A cyber crisis simulation with the German Defence Forces ignited her passion, leading to policy-shaping roles at EUROPOL and NATO.

Berenike’s ability to translate complex technical challenges into boardroom-ready solutions sets her apart. Berenike didn’t just deliver a strategy; she identified a critical gap in stakeholder engagement, before leading the design of the first-of-its-kind workshop to dissolve silos and uncover security gaps in the energy infrastructure. Her deliberate trust-building approach and focus on amplifying underrepresented voices, turned sceptical stakeholders into champions of the strategy that will ensure sustainability of the outcomes achieved.

The result was a bold, actionable four-year roadmap that is setting millions of citizens on the path for a more stable, secure economic future.

The UK Government hails her work as “of the highest standard […] first-class service, real potential for transformation”, while local energy sector stakeholders commented: “This was the first time I’ve felt my perspective really mattered.”
