MCA ONLINE BRIEFING WITH PROFESSOR MICHAEL WOOLDRIDGE | THE YEAR AI TOOK OFF: WHY DID IT HAPPEN, WHAT DOES IT MEAN, AND WHERE IS IT GOING?

Artificial Intelligence has been actively studied for more than 70 years, and rapidly growing in prominence for the last decade. But the success of AI in 2023 took the big tech world by surprise, and many of the world’s biggest companies are now jostling to take the lead in the new generative AI marketplace heralded by ChatGPT.

So why, after 70 years, did AI finally go prime-time in 2023? Does this technology mean the end of the road for AI? And where is it going. Drawing on more than three decades experience as an AI researcher, Michael Wooldridge will give us a roadmap to help us understand the weird new world of AI.
