Technology and Transformation Analyst
Deloitte
When I joined Deloitte as a tech consultant through the degree apprenticeship route, I knew I was stepping into a fast-paced environment—but I don’t think I fully grasped just how varied, rewarding, and people-focused consulting would be. I had assumed I’d spend my early days observing and learning from the people I would be working with, but instead, I found myself actively part of teams, trusted with responsibilities, and supported every step of the way.
Hybrid working has also played a huge role in shaping how I work best. Going into the office two or three days a week gives me the chance to collaborate in person, catch up with colleagues, and feel the buzz of the team environment. On the flip side, working from home lets me focus deeply, reflect, and recharge. I’ve found this balance to be ideal—I doubt I would enjoy doing either full-time.
Technology and AI are naturally a big part of what we do. We have access to a Deloitte-built GenAI tool called PairD that I sometimes use as a starting point for research, especially when I’m approaching something new. It’s a brilliant support tool that helps me frame my thinking and saves time when I’m deep in problem-solving mode. GenAI isn’t replacing my work—it’s enhancing it.
One area I have been deeply involved in is the public sector. For over a year, I’ve worked on projects that have a strong social impact—and that’s changed the way I view my own work. Seeing how our solutions can positively impact people’s lives gives the work real meaning. I didn’t realise how important that sense of purpose would be to me when I first started, but now I know it’s something I’ll keep seeking in future projects too.
To anyone considering a career in consulting, I’d say go for it—especially if you’re someone who thrives on variety, enjoys working with people, and is open to learning constantly. When I was exploring degree apprenticeships, I knew I wanted something dynamic, something that would let me try different things before deciding where to specialise. Working at Deloitte has given me just that. No two days feel the same, and that keeps things exciting and engaging. Consulting isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about being curious, collaborative, and constantly learning. That mindset has served me well, especially in a tech-focused role where innovation moves fast.
