Apprentice of the Year
Natalia Staszalek joined EY’s Business and Leadership Apprenticeship scheme at 18. In just a short period of time, she has taken on responsibilities far beyond what might normally be expected of an apprentice. Starting out as a Junior Assessor specialising in third party risk management (TPRM), she soon rose to a role as Project Management Officer (PMO) overseeing risk assessments – where her flexible approach helped deliver tangible benefits to the client during the most tumultuous period of the pandemic.
Her communications strengths also meant she was asked to lead training for a start-up TPRM team in France, which contributed to the team winning a challenging pitch. Natalia has also delivered training to Subject Matter Representatives (SMRs) for EY clients and has gone above and beyond in other areas, creating assessment guides, playbooks and templates which have been implemented into EY’s TPRM process, for example.
Furthermore, she has advocated apprenticeships by representing EY at a young people event and has played a key role in helping new joiners build up their confidence during a period in which they were unable to meet their colleagues and peers face-to-face. On top of all these achievements, Natalia has been completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management at Northumbria University and is working towards a professional qualification in Chartered Management.
