Lauren Clarke, Akeso

Young Consultant of the Year

MCA Awards 2025 FinalistLauren began her healthcare consulting career weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic, when the complete change in the healthcare landscape threw her into her first, most challenging project, shaping her delivery approach since. She combines her scientific acumen, strategic insight, and empathetic leadership, delivering real-world impact to patients. Having studied Pharmacology and Genomics, she thrives on translating complex technical challenges into actionable strategies with accessible language, to communicate effectively from technical experts to National Leaders.

With a reputation for strong analytics and collaborative working, Lauren consistently utilises data-driven models to inform long-term planning and capacity strategies. She balances integrating robust analytical mindset with emotional intelligence, ensuring technically strong decisions are sensitive to human impact.

Two weeks into her consulting career, she joined NHS Test and Trace, authoring the test kit specifications that all PCR test kits were sourced against, standardising product variation that directly contributed to the national scale up in testing capacity. After 10 months, she became the Planning and Allocations Manager, responsible for distributing all PCR test kits across England. Since then, she has led several strategic national initiatives, working in Public, Private, Government, and international healthcare sectors. For the last four years Lauren has supported Homerton’s NHS Charity pro-bono, targeting health inequalities in long-COVID patients to reduce isolation and support back to work.

From being instrumental in the acute response to COVID, named as “NHS Unsung Hero of the Week”, to now reducing the lasting impacts of COVID in the community, Lauren consistently champions sustainable, patient-centred healthcare solutions.
