More than half of the Management Consultancies Association (MCA) member firms are adopting the Chartered Management Consultant (ChMC) accreditation, representing a significant boost to the industry’s scale-up plans.
They include firms of all sizes from large to small.
With the commitment to ChMC accreditation, MCA members are demonstrating their determination to maintain the highest professional standards of training and development and guarantee clients the best of service.
41 MCA member firms, made up of large, medium, and SME organisations, are enlisting experienced professionals to become chartered and seeking accreditation for their in-house programmes to offer ChMC.
As well as large firms such as KPMG, EY and PwC, there has been a stream of SME firms adopting the accreditation, including Alba Partners, Cadence Innova, Clarity, Mason Advisory, Managementors, NECS Consultancy, and Vendigital.
The ChMC accreditation recognises consultants who have achieved Chartered status, raising the standards across the industry and inspiring higher levels of confidence.
More than 750 Chartered Management Consultants have already been awarded the title, with over 4,000 on their ChMC journey.
Sir Gareth Rhys William, Government Chief Commercial Officer, said:
“It is in the public sector’s interest to have a vibrant consulting sector staffed with appropriately qualified people capable of delivering work at an appropriate cost. Consequently, we value the adoption of the Chartered Management Consultant accreditation and encourage all consulting firms to consider accrediting their teams through this or other mechanisms to showcase their commitment to clients.”
Tamzen Isacsson, Chief Executive of the Management Consultancies Association (MCA), said:
“The growing adoption of ChMC by firms, of all sizes , is a positive sign of the industry’s commitment to professional standards and high levels of training and development.
We will continue to work with our members and the wider consulting industry to promote the value of professional standards and recognition, and we encourage all consulting firms to consider adopting the accreditation.”
Steve Watmough, Chair of the MCA SME Committee and Executive Chair of Mason Advisory, said:
“The growing number of SME consulting firms adopting the ChMC accreditation demonstrates the sector’s commitment to its people and high standards of training, development, and recognition. As the Chair of the MCA SME Committee, I encourage all SME firms to follow in their footsteps and invest in the ChMC accreditation, as it offers significant benefits, including improved credibility, recognition, and a competitive edge in the marketplace. The MCA is proud to support its members in raising the bar for the industry and delivering exceptional value to clients.”
The adoption of the ChMC accreditation by consulting firms across the UK highlights the industry’s dedication to professional standards and recognition. The MCA encourages all its members to adopt the ChMC award, thereby setting themselves apart as industry leaders who are committed to delivering high-quality consultancy services to their clients.
The ChMC accreditation provides a quality assurance mark for consultancy services and becoming chartered offers consultants a respected vocational qualification. It is a significant stride towards standardisation and professionalism in consulting.
