The Management Consultancies Association (MCA) has continued its strong growth with a total of ten new firms joining the trade body in recent months, including many leading SMEs and large firms such as Capgemini Invent. Last year the membership grew 18% and the trade body now represents over 90 leading consulting firms. The MCA is dedicated to supporting member interests and promoting the value of consultancy to the private and public sector, the media and the general public and represents firms of all sizes and specialisms to champion the positive force of consulting to the economy and society.
The trade association has grown three-fold in the last four years and now represents over 90 leading large, medium-sized and small firms with the aim to strengthen the MCA and Young MCA network whilst maintaining high quality members and upholding the principles of Consulting Excellence, a declaration made by all members.
As part of the rigorous entry to membership, existing clients of the firm are interviewed and Consulting Excellence values both adopted and promoted. Each member demonstrates on an annual basis this long-standing commitment to quality and innovation. In addition to ethical behaviour, client service and value and professional development, firms must promise to ensure diversity and inclusion within their workforce by supporting industry efforts to improve progress, implementing best practice and monitoring D&I over time. MCA member firms also commit to ensure that they operate in an increasingly sustainable way and strive to ensure that sustainability is considered by their clients in their work with them.

Tamzen Isacsson, Chief Executive of the Management Consultancies Association, said:
“By joining the MCA, consulting firms demonstrate their commitment to upholding the highest standards of Consulting Excellence as well as contributing to our key work of promoting the value we deliver to clients, the economy, and society and sharing best practice across the profession.”
The MCA has been the representative body for the UK consulting sector for over 65 years with a wide range of members. As well as promoting consultancy as an attractive career choice through the Young MCA network, it also brings together firms at events and committee meetings to discuss key issues affecting the consulting industry including a dedicated SME Committee and other platforms for members to engage in public debate with business and government on topical issues. Further activities include reports, policy papers, events and articles, giving members an opportunity to demonstrate their expertise and showcase best practice.
The MCA achieves significant press coverage for its reports and insights, and it is highly respected as an authoritative source of commentary on not only the industry but wider business issues. It frequently holds meetings with government bodies and parliamentarians to communicate the value of the industry, contribute to debate, and represent the interests of the UK consulting industry as evidenced by the recent ‘Value of Consulting’ campaign ahead of the General Election. Its latest report on the state of the industry was also recently launched following analysis of key data provided by MCA member firms.
