The Management Consultancies Association (MCA) has signed up Truphone and Research Now as sponsors of this year’s MCA Annual Lecture. The lecture, which takes place on 11th July, will be delivered by Rt Hon Dr Vince Cable MP, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).
Under the title of ‘Britain’s economic future and the role of professional services’, Dr Cable will speak about the government’s economic and industrial policy, and the role of the UK’s professional services sector. The lecture will also provide an opportunity for senior figures from MCA member firms to ask questions and participate in the debate.
Alan Leaman, CEO of the MCA said:
“We’re delighted that this year’s lecture will be delivered by such a prestigious and influential person as Dr Cable. Professional Services in general, and more specifically management consulting, has a vitally important role to play in driving innovation and growth in the UK economy.
The consulting industry has been recognised as a ‘world leader’, and it will be interesting to hear from the Secretary of State on how he views its role in the emerging UK industrial and economic strategy.”
Susan Askew, Client Development Director at Research Now said:
“Research Now is delighted to be building a strong relationship with the MCA. As a company we strive to forge strong relationships with industry associations to promote excellence in research and to be a willing partner in driving forward first class delivery and quality insight. We are proud to be sponsoring this year’s annual lecture and be a part of such an important business sector.”
Robert Jones, Managing Director at Truphone said:
“Unlike traditional mobile networks, we understand the needs of business professionals within the Professional Services sector: they are on the road and they need to stay connected. It shouldn’t matter whether they are in London or Los Angeles – they just need to make the call, send the file – get things done quickly. These professionals are powering the economy, and it’s up to network providers such as Truphone to help them make it happen. We are delighted to be sponsoring this year’s lecture and look forward to enabling this sector in driving the UK’s growth.”
Previous speakers at the MCA lecture have included Sir Howard Davies, Mihir Bose and Michael Portillo.
The lecture will take place at 7.15pm on 11 July 2013 at 4 Hamilton Place, London. To apply for a place at the lecture, contact sian.edwards@mca.org.uk.

The Management Consultancies Association (MCA) is the representative body for management consultancy firms in the UK. Our fifty member companies comprise around 65% of the UK consulting industry, estimated to be worth over £9bn, employ more than 40,000 consultants and work with over 90 of the top FTSE 100 companies and almost all parts of the public sector.
The MCA’s tough entry criteria and rigorous Code of Practice mean that MCA member companies are widely acknowledged to provide high quality services to their clients. Many of their achievements are recognised in the annual MCA Awards.
The MCA informs and influences public debate on topical issues, and provides authoritative data on the industry. It commissions research and policy analysis and represents the industry in discussions with Government and other stakeholders. The MCA also facilitates networking and the sharing of best practice within the industry through events, publications and initiatives such as the Young MCA.
