The UK economy has changed dramatically over the last 40 years and while public attention has been focused on manufacturing and finance, it is the professional services sector that has been the quiet success story driving UK economic growth.

Alan Leaman, Chief Executive of the MCA, says: “The Professional Services are playing a vitally important role in driving growth in the UK economy. The consulting industry in the UK has been recognised as a global leader. Our knowledge economy is central to further economic growth.

“We are delighted that Dr Vince Cable will be delivering this year’s lecture. It will be interesting to hear from the Secretary of State on how he views the role of professional services in the emerging UK industrial and economic strategy.”
