Young MCA tackles Social Change

Over the last couple of years, the young MCA has developed a partnership with BeyondMe; a social enterprise who create teams of professionals to make a difference with charitable causes they are passionate about. BeyondMe was established in 2011 and has already successfully facilitated the connection of 1,500 philanthropic consultants providing pro bono consultancy services to over 80 charities and social enterprises. The process developed by BeyondMe paves the way for teams of 7 consultants to give their time, skills and money effectively over a 12-month period supporting their chosen charities to benefit those who rely on the services of the social sector.

Through the BeyondMe initiative, consultants from five different MCA member companies have teamed up to form the first ever Young MCA team. (Short profiles of the team members can be found at the bottom of this article.) Since September 2016, the team have been devoting their time and skills to help Foundation for Change (FFC), a London-based organisation whose core work provides specific tools and knowledge that supports positive and enduring change for those transitioning from the treatment system back into society. FFC believes that knowledge should be available to everyone and the charity designs and delivers a number of courses, mostly focusing on philosophy and psychology, that drive people to success by enabling them to take control of their lives.

This team-charity partnership is approaching the mid-point of a year-long partnership and so far, has generated some great work supporting FFC through a significant transition from a Drug and Alcohol misuse charity to a broader Social Change organisation. The MCA team has also put in place a foothold for the remainder of its partnership by launching a 9-month plan in Feb-17, designed to support the charity in a number of key areas. The workstreams within this plan include fundraising, finance, marketing, communication & engagement, monitoring, vision planning and producing a 3-year roadmap. The members of the team are now driving their workstreams forward and catch-up with each other fortnightly to communicate progress.
