What is GDPR?
GDPR is an EU privacy law that will take effect on May 25, 2018. It will regulate the treatment and use of personal data belonging to EU citizens and will apply in the UK even after Brexit. Please click here to view the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) guide to GDPR.
Will GDPR apply to me?
All EU-based businesses, as well as anyone processing the personal data of EU citizens, will be affected by GDPR. Any organisation which collects, records, stores, uses, or erases personal data from customers or contacts in the EU must comply.
How the MCA is preparing for GDPR?
It is now a matter of weeks until the EU’s General Data Protection Regulations come into force, and the MCA is working hard to ensure we are ready, so that we can continue to give our members a first class service.

As a membership organisation, we rely heavily on member firms sharing the contact details of their employees, so that we can give the highest level of service and value. Our mailing lists are constantly growing when individual consultants sign up for different subscriptions. However, our promise to members remains the same! We will not add anyone to one of our mailing lists unless we have their consent or we have a clear legitimate interest as defined in the regulations. And we will always give individuals the option to unsubscribe or access and amend their data. Information will never be sold or shared by the MCA with a third party.
Following recent updates to our Privacy Policy, we have circulated details to all subscribers, informing them of these changes and reminding everyone of their rights to access and amend personal information and to unsubscribe from our lists.
