Team Leader Consultant of the Year
I never imagined a career in management consulting. As a mixed-race woman raised by a young single parent on a North London council estate, I do not fit the media portrayal of who management consultants should be. Yet, my experiences—shaped by resilience, public service, and a deep commitment to equity—have made me the leader I am today and enabled me to thrive in this sector.
My career has always been about improving public services for those who need them most. From working in Parliament on social justice issues to leading domestic abuse response efforts and serving as a Southwark Councillor, I have seen firsthand the challenges communities face. I bring that same mission-driven approach to consulting, ensuring public services are not only efficient but truly serve the people they exist to support.
At ICC, I have led teams through some of the toughest challenges in the public sector. In Liverpool, I helped senior leaders navigate historic tensions to co-create a pioneering public service reform model. In Cheshire East, I built a high-performing team that transformed a struggling council, balancing immediate financial recovery with long-term sustainability. Across every project, I foster environments where people feel safe to collaborate, challenge ideas, and grow.
Leadership, to me, is about lifting others. I create space for talent to thrive, ensuring consulting isn’t extractive but leaves both clients and teams stronger. Winning this award would reaffirm the power of inclusive, purpose-driven leadership—proving those from unexpected backgrounds can lead and inspire change.
