Adam Smith, NECS Consultancy

Experienced Leader Award

Adam learnt his craft in the third sector, working across the fields of addiction and criminal justice systems with the most vulnerable members of society, delivering a truly person-centred approach to care. He brought this ethos with him into NECS Consultancy, along with his passion for making a difference to people’s lives.

His strengths are engaging with and delivering through people. Confidently leading from the front with both humour and compassion, his ability to quickly connect with others has resulted in his continued success and progression.

In this last year his team has:
• Achieved their financial target
• Increased in size by 25%
• Delivered more local programmes across Yorkshire and Humber than ever before
• Generated a call off agreement for £750k for a major customer

He is a trusted adviser and critical friend on all contracts. Skilled in judging the mood of clients, leading honest conversations about what the issues are, and articulating where he and NECS Consultancy can add value by working together. Every contract he has worked on for NECS has been extended.

He is a firm believer in treating others the way he would expect to be treated and has brought these principles into the team. He takes a common-sense approach to his work, tries not to over complicate things, and this is welcomed by his clients and colleagues.

He works with his teams by supporting and developing them, but he also learns from them, enabling them to deliver so much more collectively.
