Alan Newbold is Arup’s Aviation Business Leader for the UK, India, Middle East and Africa region and leads Arup’s Digital Aviation business globally.
Alan has 30 years of experience bridging the gap between people, process, technology and the built environment to deliver digital transformation that drives sustainability, innovation and change. It’s this powerful blend of people, process and technology that has brought him success in delivering outcomes and leaving legacies for clients around the world.
Over the last eight years, Alan has been tasked with creating Arup’s Digital Advisory business. Building from the ground up, Alan spearheaded significant growth across the Water, Energy and Transport sector despite a difficult economic backdrop. He believes this success is the sum of the people he’s hired, the people he’s trained, the collaborative nature of the strong relationships he has built with them and the trust they have in Alan that has made him the leader he is today.
Within aviation, Alan is passionate about delivering technology transformation that helps clients improve passenger experience, reduce operating costs and carbon, and increase revenue. He has regularly spoken about real time aviation and the need to bring aviation together as an interconnected system leveraging real time data to make real time operational decisions.
Leading the way in Digital and Aviation, Alan has navigated a rapidly changing environment over the course of his career. From dot com booms and busts to COVID-19 and generative artificial intelligence, Alan has continued to lead in an uncertain and changing world.
