Inclusion Award

MCA Awards 2024 FinalistAlex is Head of Human Resources at Netcompany and in under two years has driven the transformation of its employee culture and supported Social Value activities for the business and clients. His work has contributed to Netcompany’s 2023 achievements – it was the first tech company awarded Social Value Quality Mark Gold and achieved No.5 on Glassdoor’s 50 best places to work.

His approach to support progress and wellbeing of employees is underpinned by the idea of a ‘virtuous circle’. In that, people immersed in inclusive, supportive and healthy cultures influence their customers the same way. This produces positive interactive experiences and underpins longevity in client-relationships delivering better rewards for both employees and clients.

Alex brought his approach and two decades of HR experience to Netcompany – a growing tech business in a sector notorious for its unhealthy work-life balance, gender parity, low multicultural mix and high turnover rates. He kickstarted the dialogue with Netcompany’s people via Employee Resource Groups and forums encouraging all to be heard and groups now drive policy change in the business. Wellbeing improvements were vital and following data-driven research included healthcare plans, mental health first-aiders and varied events programme with menopause support and posture training. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) surveys revealed disparities in multicultural, female and disabled employees, so he created scalable plan to ensure better inclusivity. Since his arrival, Netcompany has doubled its size, voluntary turnover has reduced by 60%; the workforce is 39% multicultural and 5% over the UK average for women-in-tech.
