Experienced Leader Award
Jason MacLeod is the consultant’s consultant. Down-to-earth and approachable, rigorous and focused, he’s the ultimate team player, which is why he’s so good at leading teams at the highest level of consultancy.
And he doesn’t stop at leading them. Jason is also forthright about nurturing and protecting his team. He says it’s in everyone’s interests – the client and the consultants – never to allow your people to burn out just because you feel you can’t say “no” to a client. Coach your team to be their best and give them the space to excel and the client will thank you for it.
Jason says that something all consultants need to remember is that they should be proud to work in their industry. He believes they enjoy some of the most diverse professional workplace settings in the world, as well as unique insights into the workings of complex and successful organisations, with the added satisfaction of making those organisations even better.
Throughout his 30-year career, Jason has built a legacy of tools and methodologies for positive change, with a special focus on the power of storytelling. He’s made videos, created formal game-playing approaches to understanding behavioural change, published fables on culture change, built agile project-management tools and presented findings on knowledge management at a European industry federation level.
It’s a record that’s been hard won, says Jason. But also a privilege.
