Inclusion Award
Since entering the world of consultancy, Sandra Ositelu has championed inclusion by harnessing the power of co-production to put people with lived experience at the heart of how we design and deliver vital local services.
Whether it’s challenging preconceptions or helping local authority clients to engage with particular groups, she has used her role to great effect to support services, frontline teams and commissioners to nurture a more inclusive approach in their work.
Sandra has brought a fresh perspective to recruitment and raised awareness around how best to support people from different backgrounds and with varying needs to ensure they thrive.
Within a short space of time, her passion for diversity, equality and inclusion has led to key changes in the way the consultancy works. For example, the introduction of work placements for people with lived experience on projects directly relevant to their background has further set IMPOWER’s approach apart from competitors while benefitting the individuals involved and bringing crucial insights to support the client.
Thanks to Sandra’s leadership and energy, co-production is now fundamental to the firm’s work supporting children, young people and parent carers within the High Needs system. Her work on the development of a co-production toolkit will help to embed the approach across IMPOWER’s other areas of work – ensuring inclusion is at the heart of projects with local authorities across the country.
“Sandra has led and driven some of our most impactful projects over the last two years,” says Dominic Luscombe, Delivery Director at IMPOWER.
