BUSINESSES MUST URGENTLY ASSESS NO DEAL PLANS, SAYS MCA

MCA statement in response to Boris Johnson speech

Commenting on Boris Johnson’s speech at the Conservative Party Conference, Tamzen Isacsson, MCA Chief Executive, said:

“Businesses need to use this month wisely and start planning for the scenario of leaving the EU on 31st October without a deal. Many firms across the UK are genuinely not ready for a  “no deal” and need to urgently review their plans and assess what else needs to be done such as additional stockpiling. Many Brexit plans by larger firms are still incomplete and not fully implemented and it is well known that SMEs are under prepared. Firms should revisit key areas of their supply chain as well as look to support their people and have an effective communication plan between now and 31 October with staff, customer, suppliers and other key stakeholders. We should not forget that the UK is still one of the best places to do business in the world and UK plc need to collectively make it more attractive than ever for investment and trade. Businesses need certainty to operate properly and it’s vital politicians all work together to put an end to this period of political and economic turbulence.”
