- More than 500 Consultants are now Chartered as the new award gathers momentum.
- The Chartered Management Consultant Award is recognition that consultants have the skills to deliver the highest standards.
- Backed by Consultancies large and small and by stakeholders including Government and purchasers of consulting services.
The Chartered Management Consultant Award (ChMC) has passed a key milestone with more than 500 Management Consultants now Chartered.
To date, 501 consultants have been awarded Chartered status, 1,519 are on the journey, 16 MCA member firms are accredited with a total of 40 MCA members ready to engage. 670 consultants have registered for Experienced Professional assessment as the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the Management Consultancies Association (MCA) continue to grow the award.
The two bodies came together to create an award that recognises consultants’ commitment to professional standards, continued professional development and ethical and professional conduct. The Management Consultancies Association (MCA), is the trade association for the UK’s leading consulting firms, and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) is the UK’s leading chartered professional body for management and leadership.
Since the official launch of the award in April, there has been a tremendous interest in Chartered from consultancies, consultants and clients as the award demonstrates expertise, knowledge and a commitment to quality and diversity.
The award has been supported by Government from the outset and representatives from the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) currently sit on the ChMC Oversight Board. Increasingly clients are enquiring about Chartered seeking the assurance it brings them.
Ann Francke OBE, Chief Executive of CMI, said:
“I’d like to congratulate each of the first 500 Chartered Management Consultants. They are all pioneers in embracing this new and important Chartered Award. The management consultancy profession and clients will benefit hugely from having this Charter underpinned by contemporary standards and rigorous assessment.
“We at CMI are proud to stand alongside our partners at the MCA in delivering Chartered status and the number of firms and professionals now engaging mean the numbers will scale up very quickly across the industry.”
Tamzen Isacsson, Chief Executive of the MCA, said:
“Chartered is establishing itself as part of the fabric of the consultancy industry even more quickly than we had anticipated. It is doing so because it recognises expertise and talent and because it is a differentiator. The award recognises the achievements, abilities and experience of consultants – differentiating them from the rest. It marks out the firms committed to quality of delivery, to the development of their staff and it is helping those who engage with the award to attract and retain the best talent.
“Increasingly we are also finding that more and more clients are enquiring about Chartered. They want the assurance that their needs are being met by the best in the business and Chartered is helping to give them that vital assurance.”
Alan Guthrie, Chief Transformation Officer, Johnson Matthey, added:
“The Chartered Management Consultant Award is a fantastic step forward for the industry to promote consistent, high levels of professional competency, something that in turn will enhance the value provided to its clients, like myself and my organization. As a member of the Client Panel, I am excited to be representing the voice of the customer to challenge and provide further development of the ChMC Award as it evolves.”
