MCA announce launch of 2020 Awards with new MCA judging panel and greater focus on younger talent

The Management Consultancies Association (MCA) Awards for 2020 have been launched today (Monday 1st July) with a new MCA judging panel and a variety of new categories to reflect the changing face of the management consultancy profession in the UK.

The MCA Awards, now in their 23rd year, are an important fixture in the consulting industry calendar and celebrate excellence in the sector, in partnership with clients. New categories for this year include an Environmental Award and prizes for Data Innovation in both the Public and Private sectors.  Also new for 2020 is increased recognition for younger consultants with awards for Best New Apprentice and the MCA Rising Star award which recognises individuals who are making a positive impact in the work place at the early stages of their career.

The MCA Awards are judged each year by an Independent judging panel and this year the MCA has brought together a wider selection of experts from a diverse range of backgrounds including academia, the media industry, government and the private sector. Consultants will have to compete in front of a range of new judges including the Executive Director from McLaren Ruth Aoidh, Lord Victor Abedowale CEO of Turning Point, senior officials from a range of government departments and media figures from across the national media.

Tamzen Isacsson, MCA Chief Executive, said:

“The MCA Award trophies are highly sought after in the consulting sector and competition is fierce between firms across our diverse sector to demonstrate the excellent work consultants are delivering for clients. We’re delighted so many new judges have decided to come on board this year to judge these hotly contested awards and we’re confident they are more than up to the challenge of putting the finalists through their paces. The future of our sector lies with our young consultants and we want to encourage as many of them as possible to now compete in the variety of awards celebrating young talent.”

Firms and individuals have now just 3 months to get their submissions into the MCA before the process of marking by judges begins. Finalists will be called to interview at the MCA in early 2020 and are highly recommended to be accompanied by their clients.

Previous winners from last year include Anjum Hakim from PwC for Times Consultant of the Year and winner of the Outstanding Achievement award, as well as Arup, PwC and EY. SME consultancies also performed strongly at the 2019 Awards with the following firms recognised for their outstanding work; Bourton Group with Cambridge Assesssment, Carnall Farrar with IPPR, Vendigital with Spectris, Gate One with Ucas, Cognizant with BBC Monitoring and Decision Technology with Schroders.

The deadline for submission is Friday 27th September 2019 with the awards presented at the MCA Awards Ceremony & dinner at Park Plaza on Thursday 23rd April 2020.
