James Hatch, BAE Systems Applied Intelligence

Thought Leader Consultant of the Year Finalist 2019

James Hatch is a recognised thought leader in the field of cyber security.

His experience has been wide ranging and hands-on: as the director leading the 50-strong incident response team tackling the data breach at TalkTalk, James advised the client’s board about their future cyber risk position and next steps following the clean-up activities. James also led a cyber security programme for Network Rail, recommending and supporting implementation of major organisational and technology changes to their IT and to the handling of railway estate. In his role as Director of Cyber Security at Applied Intelligence, James operates as an advisor on cyber risk across a wide portfolio of BAE Systems customers, including government departments and briefing risk committees of FTSE100 companies in media and finance.

His broad experience in both emergency cyber response scenarios and in working with organisations to build cyber resilience has made James the right person to apply new ways of thinking to this challenge. The cyber security marketplace is vast and complex and individual organisations are protecting themselves with greater and greater investment.

This year, James brought BAE Systems together with some of the most influential names in the security sector to launch The Intelligence Network. This is a commitment to engaging and activating a global community in the fight against cyber-crime. Powered by collaboration of like-minded global security professionals and industry influencers, The Intelligence Network is committed to creating a safer society in the digital world.
