Since joining EY in 2015 as a consultant, Ryan Gwinnett has quickly established himself as a highly valued senior consultant and manager who is committed to helping public infrastructure clients encourage innovation and bring value to UK taxpayers.
He is a key member of the Highways England team delivering its Smart Motorways programme, which uses the latest technology and thinking to reduce congestion and improve journey times.
The £5bn Smart Motorways Alliance will see Highways England form a long-term collaboration with six selected supply chain partners to drive innovation and achieve their ambitious targets over the next 10 years. As the project has progressed, so has Ryan’s role, from shaping the solution and developing the outline business case to translating business requirements into the contract and readying the business for connected and autonomous vehicles. Throughout this process his focus has been on setting the conditions in which innovation can flourish and building in the flexibility required for the Alliance to develop. Ryan’s commitment to innovation means that he has put this approach at the heart of the decision-making process.
His contribution to developing the Smart Motorways Alliance was recognised by EY’s ‘Better begins with you’ programme, with Ryan receiving the Pursuing Innovation award and being recognised as one of four overall winners in the UK and Ireland.
As a part of EY’s commercial and procurement function, Ryan is well placed to help other infrastructure clients create the right conditions for innovation to flourish.
