Young MCA Chair Update – Dec 2014

Since the Annual General Meeting earlier this year, the Young MCA steering committee has been working hard to further build on the success of the network, taking on board the new ideas suggested and continuously challenging ourselves with new ways of working to deliver the best results to our members!

We have continued to deliver a diverse and engaging programme of events and networking opportunities, some recent events include ‘The art of speed networking’, ‘The future of Public Sector Consulting’ and ‘Digital and the future of Consulting’. Our final event for 2014 will be ‘Clicks or Bricks – The future of Retail’, with more exciting events to come in the New Year!

We recently introduced live polling to drive interactivity with our members during events. This allows our members to engage throughout the event and share their thoughts on various hot topics. This has allowed us to gather insights of young consultants and form a collective point of view on certain topics that has informed MCA Think Tank papers and Young MCA news articles.

In addition to our programme of events, we have held 5 university engagements at Cambridge, Imperial, Bath, Reading and Loughborough, with the aim to promote Management Consultancy as a profession and share our experiences across a range of different firms i.e. size, specialism, sector etc.

As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility agenda, we partnered with the Young Enterprise to support their ‘Small Business Challenge’ volunteering programme, where 11 volunteers across the Young MCA network participated in this all day event at Mossbourne Academy.

In light of the MCA’s Year of Digital, we have developed a series of initiatives to enhance our online presence and have also begun to conduct data analysis to better understand our members; ensure we are delivering the relevant themed events, appropriate news articles and using the right channels to engage with our members.

We have also made a conscious effort to continue working with the MCA and greatly appreciate the ongoing support we have received from the Board and member firms; whether it be sponsoring an event, presenting or being a panel guest at events or providing us with an insight into your career journey as part of our e-newsletter – Thank you.

I look forward to continue working with the vice chairs and steering committee to build on the successes and accomplishments we have achieved in the second half of 2014.

Many thanks to the steering committee for your hard work, Young MCA members for your involvement and the MCA and member firms for your on-going support.

If you have any feedback on the Young MCA events or activities – don't hesitate to drop us an email to youngmca@mca.org.uk
