Team Leader Consultant of the Year
Caroline is a director in EY Finance Consulting Team, where she leads large teams on complex projects for clients. Caroline’s leadership style is to work with clients, rather than for them. She is adept at building long-lasting, trusted relationships and facilitating an open environment where individuals feel they can contribute value to a project, irrespective of their position or levels of experience.
Caroline clearly loves delivering results. She knows how to motivate teams of people to deliver to tight deadlines, be it securing over £1 billion of savings for a retail client accused of a breach of warranty or providing advisory services to help a new nuclear power station hit key project milestones. Her leadership in the nuclear sector is becoming part of her legacy as a team leader. Here, she has made significant contributions in thought leadership and delivering against the UK Nuclear Sector Deal’s women in nuclear target, developing a diverse and talented EY team (c.45% female), which is supporting the sector. She also presented at the European Nuclear Industry Congress 2023 on how new nuclear can pave the way for increasing diversity and help to close the skills gap.
An essential component of Caroline’s leadership style is providing opportunities for junior team members. She used a major infrastructure project to coach her team on how to identify and present key information to senior stakeholders, for example – improving and progressing team members, but also putting the client closer to people on the ground and thereby delivering more client value in the process.
